Industry skills councils

Industry skills councils have been established in Australia to address training issues and to provide advice to government about training priorities and the vocational education and training needs of a particular industry.

Agri-food Industry Skills Council
This Council represents the broad interests of all agri-food industry sectors through its 9 member Board and five industry standing committees. Industry sectors represented include food, beverage and pharmaceuticals, rural and related industries, meat processing, seafood and racing. The website provides further information about the Council and its activities as well as links to information about training packages relevant to the sector, project updates and language, literacy and numeracy information.

Community Services & Health Industry Skills Council
This council is the recognised national advisory body on the skill and workforce requirements of the community services and health industries in Australia. The website has further information on the work of the council, training packages relevant to the sector, projects, research reports and publications, careers in the sector, and Australian government programs. 

Construction and Property Services Industry Skills Council (CPSISC)
CPSISC represents the workforce training and development needs of the Construction and Property Services Industries in Australia. Industry sectors represented include real estate, waste management, security, facility management, building service, master plumbers and construction. ElectroComms and Energy Utilities Industry Skills Council (EE-Oz Training Standards Ltd)
This council is the recognised national advisory body on the skill and workforce requirements for Australia's ElectroComms & Energy Utilities industries. Industry sectors represented include electrotechnology, gas, rail and electricity. ForestWorks: learning and skills development
As an Industry Skills Council (ISC) ForestWorks provides expert advice and services in skills development, employment and training in the forest, wood, paper and timber products industry, and acts as the channel between industry, government and the Australian vocational education and training (VET) system. Industry sectors represented include forest growing and management, harvesting and haulage, sawmilling and processing, timber product manufacturing, pulp and paper manufacturing and timber merchandising. This website provides a one-stop-shop to both an industry knowledge resource and a gateway for new entrants to the industry. Government Skills Australia (GSA)
GSA is the Industry Skill Council (ISC) for government and community safety. GSA aims to provide high quality training resources and services to support the recognition of skills and professionalism in government administration, services and operations. Industry sectors represented include correctional services, water, public safety, public sector, local goverment and translating, interpreting and bilingual work. The website provides links to careers information, industry specific information, an online shop of training resources and other publications, projects, and latest news.

Innovation and Business Skills Australia (IBSA)
IBSA is the industry skills council representing business services; cultural and related industries; education; financial services; information and communication technologies; and the printing and graphic arts industries. The website provides access to further information about the council's activities, industry relevant training packages, surveys, services, and products.

Manufacturing Industry Skills Council (MSA)
This council is the recognised national advisory body on the skill and workforce requirements of the manufacturing industry. Sectors represented include aerospace, chemicals hydrocarbons refining, competitive manufacturing, furnishing, laboratory operations, manufactured mineral products, metal engineering boating, plastics rubber cablemaking and textiles clothing footwear. Services Industry Skills Council
Service Skills Australia is the Industry Skills Council (ISC) for the Australian service industries. Industry sectors represented include retail and wholesale, sport, fitness, community recreation, outdoor recreation, travel, tours, meetings and events, accommodation, restaurants and catering, caravans, hairdressing, beauty, floristry, community pharmacy and funeral services. SkillsDMC
SkillsDMC is the national industry skills council for the resources and infrastrucutre sectors including coal mining, civil construction, construction materials, drilling, and metalliferous. Transport & Logistics Industry Skills Council
The Transport & Logistics Industry Skills Council (ISC) offers a broad range of services to businesses across transport sectors including road transport, rail, warehouse and storage, maritime, and aviation. The website provides links to information about industry relevant training packages, resources, workforce planning, projects and Australian government programmes.
